Fed, ECB and BOJ Meetings This Week: A Quotation and Cash-Flow Checklist for Korean Exporters

Manage currency-specific receipts, purchases, settlement dates and quotation validity before assuming a policy direction.

· BIZPECTRA Editorial

Official calendars checked on October 26, 2026 list the FOMC on October 27–28, the ECB monetary-policy meeting on October 28–29 and the BOJ meeting on October 29–30, in each institution’s local time. Decisions are still pending. This article reviews quotation and cash-flow exposure rather than forecasting interest rates or currencies.

Management focus
  • Map the calendar before the decisions
  • Dollar sales do not offset every purchasing currency
  • Protect margins through quotation terms and total cost
  • Exporter action checklist

Map the calendar before the decisions

The Fed release is scheduled for October 28 locally, reaching Korea the following day. The ECB schedules a press conference after its October 29 meeting. Overlay these events with quotation renewals, material settlements and export collections. The following implications are BIZPECTRA analysis and assume no particular policy or currency direction.

Dollar sales do not offset every purchasing currency

A company selling in dollars while purchasing euro-denominated equipment or yen-denominated components needs separate currency schedules. Even same-currency purchases and sales do not fully offset when timing or amounts differ. Distinguish won manufacturing costs, material purchases, foreign-currency freight and import settlements to identify actual conversion amounts and dates.

Protect margins through quotation terms and total cost

State the FX reference, validity period, material-price date and adjustment mechanism for fixed-price quotations. A ±3% currency scenario can be an internal sensitivity assumption, not a market forecast. Recalculate revenue, materials, freight, inspection and inventory costs against the base quotation. Prioritize products with large exposure and long collection periods for commercial review.

Exporter action checklist

  1. Prepare USD, EUR and JPY receipt and payment schedules.
  2. Compare meeting dates with quote expiry, purchases and collections.
  3. Recalculate profit per finished part under stated FX assumptions.
  4. Specify quotation FX references, validity and material adjustments.
  5. Itemize freight, emergency shipments, split deliveries and payment terms.
  6. Update quotations after reviewing actual policy statements and customer orders.

BIZPECTRA assessment

Fast delivery and flexible response create value when they help manage customer inventory and financing costs. Clear quotation terms, stable quality and process yield make Korean suppliers’ total-cost proposition measurable.
